Adverbs of Manner

Adverbs of manner describe how people do things:

• She writes slowly.
• He runs quickly.

You can make lots of adverbs of manner by adding -ly to adjectives:

• bad            badly
• loud           loudly

Adjectives that end in -y change it to -i:

• happy        happily
• easy          easily

There are some exceptions:

• good         well
• fast           fast

Other common adverbs of manner are:

• angrily
• badly
• beautifully
• carefully
• dangerously
• furiously
• hard
• kindly
• nervously
• politely
• quietly
• softly
