Adverbs of manner describe how people do things:
  • She writes slowly.

You can make lots of adverbs of manner by adding -ly to adjectives:

  • loud           loudly
Adjectives that end in -y change it to -i:
  • happy        happily
  • easy          easily
There are some exceptions:
  • good         well
  • fast           fast

Other common adverbs of manner are:
  • angrily
  • badly
  • beautifully
  • carefully
  • dangerously
  • furiously
  • hard
  • kindly
  • nervously
  • politely
  • quietly
  • softly

Activities:

The Imperative Form

You can use the imperative form to give an order, a warning, or some advice.
To form the imperative, use the infinitive form of the verb without "to". To make a negative imperative, put "do not" or "don't" in front of the verb, as in, "Don't speak!"

Affirmative
Negative
Come here
Don't cross the street
Go there
Don't say that
Open the door
Don't be late
Turn on the TV
Don't fight
Sit down
Don’t go

The imperative is formed the same for all subjects (you, he, we, they), but you can include yourself in the imperative by adding "Let's," as in, "Let's go for a swim".

Affirmative
Negative
Let's work!
Let’s not work!
Let's make a party!
Let's not make a party!
Let's go!
Let's not go!
Let's play!
Let's not play!
Let's go home!
Let's not go home!

Subject Pronouns

Object Pronouns

The pronouns have one form when they are used as subjects and another form when they are used as objects.

Subjects are what the sentence is about.
Objects are what is affected by the action of the subject.

  • I like dogs. (I is the subject).
  • I read books. (Books is the object as it is receiving the action).

Object pronouns are used instead of nouns, usually because we already know what the object is. It makes the sentence easier to read and understand and avoids repetition. We normally use object pronouns after a verb or a preposition.

Could & Couldn't Activities

Some activities to review the modals could, couldn't and was able to:

Could & Couldn't

Could and couldn’t are modal auxiliary verbs. Could and couldn’t are the past tense forms of can and can’t.
We use could and couldn’t to:
  • talk about past possibility or ability
  • make requests
Structure
subject + could/couldn’t + main verb
The main verb is always the infinitive without "to".

Uses
Past Possibility or Ability
We use could to talk about what was possible in the past, what we were able or free to do:
  • could speak English when I was 5 years old.
  • My grandmother could swim.
  • When we arrived home, we couldn't open the door.
  • Could you understand what he was saying?
We use could (positive) and couldn't (negative) for general ability in the past. But when we talk about one special occasion in the past, we use be able to (positive) and couldn't (negative).

Requests
We often use could in a question to ask somebody to do something. The use of could in this way is fairly polite (formal):
  • Could you tell me where the bank is, please?
  • Could you send me a catalogue, please?

The Price Tag

Jessie J - Price Tag ft. B.o.B.

Okay, Coconut Man, Moonheads, and P. You ready!

Seems like everybody's got a price
I wonder how they sleep at night
When the sale comes first
And the truth comes second
Just stop for a minute and smile

Why is everybody so serious?
Acting so damn mysterious
Got your shades on your eyes
And your heels so high
That you can't even have a good time

Everybody look to the left (yeah)
Everybody look to the right
Can you feel that (yeah)
We'll pay them with love tonight

It's not about the money, money, money
We don't need your money, money, money
We just wanna make the world dance
Forget about the price tag

Ain't about the (ha) cha-ching cha-ching
Ain't about the (yeah) ba-bling ba-bling
Wanna make the world dance
Forget about the price tag

(Okay)
We need to take it back in time
When music made us all unite!
And it wasn't low blows and video hoes,
Am I the only one gettin' tired?

Why is everybody so obsessed?
Money can't buy us happiness
Can we all slow down and enjoy right now
Guarantee we'll be feelin'
All right

Everybody look to the left (to the left)
Everybody look to the right (to the right)
Can you feel that (yeah)
We'll pay them with love tonight...

It's not about the money, money, money
We don't need your money, money, money
We just wanna make the world dance,
Forget about the price tag

Ain't about the (ha) Cha-Ching Cha-Ching.
Ain't about the (yeah) Ba-Bling Ba-Bling
Wanna make the world dance
Forget about the price tag

[B.o.B Rap]
Yeah yeah
Well, keep the price tag
And take the cash back
Just give me six streams and a half stack
And you can keep the cars
Leave me the garage
And all I...
Yes all I need are keys and guitars
And guess what, in 30 seconds I'm leaving to Mars
Yes we leaping across these undefeatable odds
It's like this man, you can't put a price on the life
We do this for the love so we fight and sacrifice every night
So we ain't gon' stumble and fall, never
Waiting to see us in a sign of defeat? Uh-uh
So we gon' keep everyone moving their feet
So bring back the beat and then everyone sing

It's not about the money, money, money
We don't need your money, money, money
We just wanna make the world dance,
Forget about the price tag

Ain't about the (ha) Cha-Ching Cha-Ching.
Ain't about the (yeah) Ba-Bling Ba-Bling
Wanna make the world dance,
Forget about the price tag.

It's not about the money, money, money
We don't need your money, money, money
We just wanna make the world dance,
Forget about the price tag

Ain't about the (yeah-yeah) Cha-Ching Cha-Ching.
Ain't about the (whoo!) Ba-Bling Ba-Bling
Wanna make the world dance,
Forget about the price tag.

Yeah yeah
Oo-oooh
Forget about the price tag
