Question Words

Question words are used to ask about qualities, times, places, people, etc. We often refer to them as Wh- words because they include the letters WH (for example WHy, WHen, WHo).

Here you have a chart with the main Wh- words:

Question Word	Function	Example
what	asking for information about something	What is your name?
when	asking about time	When did they leave?
where	asking in or at what place or position	Where do you live?
which	asking about choice	Which one do you want?
who	asking what or which person or people	Who sang the song?
why	asking for reason, asking what...for	Why do you stay here?
how	asking about manner or condition	How do you do?
